As of the 10th July Cristiano Ronaldo is a Juventus player. Juventus have got their man by breaking the clubs transfer record, £99.2 million.
Real Madrid bought Ronaldo from Manchester United back in 2009 for a then world record transfer fee of £80 million meaning Real Madrid have managed to make a profit from a 33-year-old which is remarkable even if it is Ronaldo.
Jorge Mendes, Ronaldo's agent, stated that his client will retire after his contract at Juventus is finished in four years' time.
This move to Serie A by Ronaldo will determine if he really is the greatest of all time.
If Ronald can be successful in his time at the Italian giants he will have dominated arguably the three best leagues in the world, Premier League, La Liga and Seire A. With Ronaldo entering his twilight years as a player at the same time as going to a well-knwon defensive league he will have to change the style of his play to fit his new league and team.
With Napoli closing the gap between the two sides and with Juventus failing to win the Champions League for 22 years, it was a smart decision for Massimiliano Allegri to bring in the five-time Premier League and La Liga winner and a record five-time Champions League winner to help widen the gap between 1st and 2nd place in the league but most importantly to bring home the Champions League after 22 years of misery.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner leaves Real Madrid as the all-time top goal scorer with 450 goals averaging a goal a game in his 438 appearances for the legendary club which is truly amazing. He left Manchester United in 2009 after making 292 appearances scoring 118 goals for the club that made him a star.
Whatever happens in Italy for Ronaldo he will always been known as a great of the game, but will he be known as the greatest to have played the game. Only time will tell.
